Have you ever wondered what life would be like if you had a dragon? Well, wonder no more! Just read the new oversized picture book, Life With My Dragon: 5 Heart-Warming Tales, by Didier Levy and you’ll find out.
In the story in the book, a precocious little dragon owner must be flexible when caring for her dragon. For example, when her pet dragon catches a cold and needs to sneeze — ATCHOOOO! — the girl must don her firefighter’s coat and use her fire truck to put out the inevitable fire. Ever the thoughtful dragon owner, she also plays doctor and washes out her poor dragon’s clogged nose.
In the second story, the girl helps her dragon give its furnace a tune-up so it will stay nice and warm during chilly weather. In doing so she must make certain the dragon puts the furnace back together properly, or all sorts of funny things may happen.
There are three additional stories, in which the girl and her dragon save a neighbor from a fire, the dragon decides to wear the Christmas tree lights around its neck for a decoration, and the girl and her exhausted dragon have a good night’s sleep at the end of a long, eventful day.
Life With My Dragon is an adorable little book with even cuter illustrations (by gifted artist Fred Benaglia) that are full of life, vibrant colors, and kid-friendly smiles. The prose is giggle-inspiring, and the story lines in each story are creative enough to keep children happy from the beginning of the book to the very end.
Use this book as a holiday favorite, during art class for inspiration, or as independent reading for students. Enjoy!
