Description

An enslaved man named William “Bill” Lewis rented himself from his owner, moved to Chattanooga Tennessee, and set up a blacksmith shop. He spent the next 20+ years earning money to free his wife, himself, his son, his mother and aunt, and his two brothers and one sister.
