ABOUT PICTURE BOOK DEPOT

Publishers, Booksellers, and Ebook Developers can analyze, guest-imate and say what they want. PICTURE BOOKS ARE HERE TO STAY!
Most people have fond, lasting memories of picture books, and not just because they were able to skip the words and look at the pictures. It’s because picture books give readers what many people are not capable of obtaining on their own – at least not just yet: A vacation away from their own world.
What do I mean? I mean that some people don’t have money to travel the world over, or safari in Africa, or go “walk-about” across the country. What do they turn to? Picture Books, of course! And while books without pictures are also capable of giving the mind a vacation from reality, they just can’t do what Picture Books do. Picture Books feed readers’ eyes til they’re full-to-bursting, fire their creativity, and jolt their flatlining brains back to life and the wonderful world of imagination. Picture Books give curious and intelligent minds something to look forward to until these readers finally have the where-withal to do the things they’ve been dreaming of.
PICTURE BOOKS ARE THE BIZ, BABY!
You can hold Picture Books, flip through them, sit on your Mom’s lap (or sit someone on yours) and share them. You can sniff and savor the new ink smell, finger the pictures or pull the book up close to eyeball the illustrations. You can even OWN Picture Books, but if you don’t have enough money for that, you can BORROW them from your local library until you do. How neat is that?
Yes, Picture Books are here to stay, and I, for one, intend to continue celebrating them. I developed this website for just that purpose; to feature great picture books, offer reviews that will help you in your selection of new picture books to add to your library, and to celebrate the Picture Book in all its splendor and glory.
That being said, go ahead – browse through this site and make a list of the wonderful picture books you’d like to own. While you’re doing that, please take the time to leave a comment or two.
Read and enjoy!
ABOUT ME
My name is Rita Lorraine Hubbard, and picture books are my passion. When I was little, I loved books of all types, but if they had pictures, it was like icing on the cake. Sometimes I imagined myself inside those colorful pictures, visiting all the exotic places on the page. Those illustrations even inspired me to try my own hand at drawing and sketching.
I began reviewing books of all kinds at YABooksCentral under the talented Kimberly Pauley in 2008. Through her generosity, I’ve been privileged to read and own some of the finest books out there. But because I wanted to focus on picture books more than other genres, I decided to develop my own website. Picture Book Depot is my way of sharing the wonderful picture books I come across with YOU! Due to FTC regulations, please presume that any book reviewed on this site was sent free-of-charge by the author or publisher to PICTURE BOOK DEPOT, as a review copy. However, I must admit that many of the books featured on this site were already in my possession. I’m a book hoarder, plain and simple, having been blessed with two wonderful sons who absolutely loved picture books, adored hearing Mommy read to them, and begged for new picture books like nobody’s business.
Most book bloggers use the 5-Star system. I use a 5-STAR Multi-Rating System, in which the book is evaluated on several criteria. CLICK HERE for an explanation of the 5-STAR Multi-Rating System.

Rita:
thanks for nice words about my website. I hope your search for info about creating an online school was helpful, but if at some point you’d like to talk about the issues involved with online schools and the landscape of online education please feel free to get in touch.
BTW what’s your connection with WriteOnCon? I’ve forwarded that site on to some colleagues I think will be interested.
Be well
Ray
Dear Ray,
Thanks for visiting me here at The Depot. I very much enjoyed visiting your site, and think the work you do is extremely important. As for WriteOnCon, my only connection is that I’m a writer who’s ecstatic about having found it, and I encourage other writers to become a part of the community.
Best wishes for all you do!
